Got around to posting pics from our vacation to San Diego this year…all from Balboa Park.

cool fotos, herr bruce!
flora, fauna…way cool. what are the fig looking ones?

i walked out of the apt. i live in, the other night and happened to turn the porch light on and saw something long and black in a fresh cut ditch. it never surfaced for air like a snake might, so i assumed it was something quite different.
i managed to get it to wiggle into a white bucket and saw very small almost vestigial legs and feet…i had an amphiuma! i’ve never seen one before, i was quite chuffed!
even posted about it on the n. american herpetology group on FB.
i’ll pull a photo off my camera and send it to you off list.

Sadly I have no idea of what the fig-looking ones were, other than they’re some low ground-cover-type plant. The place was annoyingly poorly annotated. Some plants had identifying tags, most did not.
